Our Fundamental Beliefs | |
| Salvation Is Viable | |||||
| All that matters in this life is that we have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We believe that even the best person will spend eternity in hell if they are not born again. We also believe that religion will send people to hell. The Bible teaches us, that we must be born again and be washed in the Blood of the Lamb. We know that this is the only way through the Gate. We encourage you today, to have a personal and intimate relationship with Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour. The Bible tells us that today is the day of Salvation. | |||||
| Worship Is Viable | |||||
| We believe that it is important for every believer to grow in the Grace of God and to find a way to worship Him that is meaningful, relevant, uplifting, and creative. We take serious the words spoken by the Hebrews writer in Hebrews 10:25 "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another and so much the more, as you see the day approaching". | |||||
| Missions Are Viable | |||||
| We have been, since our beginning, a church committed to cooperative missions. This includes not only generous financial support of our missionaries, but also personal involvement in missions locally and internationally. We channel our mission support through three Baptist entities: the Mountain State Baptist Association, the Baptist State Convention of West Virginia, and the Southern Baptist Convention. We understand the Great Commission and we take it to heart. | |||||
| Spiritual Formation Is Viable | |||||
| We strive to offer opportunities to nurture personal faith towards Christ-like maturity through regular Worship, Bible study, Prayer Meetings, and through processes that enable gift discovery, development, and use through involvement. | |||||
| Fellowship Is Viable | |||||
| A key word in our church is "family." We make it our goal to welcome all who choose to come and be a part of the family of Cumberland Heights Baptist Church and encourage them to find a meaningful place of belonging through our many areas of ministries. | |||||
| Baptist Values Are Viable | |||||
| We teach, honor, and preserve historic Baptist principles; we value our autonomy, and we believe and support the Baptist Faith and Message. | |||||
| Stewardship Is Viable | |||||
| We believe that it is important to give unselfishly of our time, talents, and treasures in accordance to the Word of God. The Bible teaches us in Malachi 3:10 "Bring you all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in My house, and prove Me now herewith, says the Lord of host, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it". |
